NIC to present plays

| October 12, 2018 1:00 AM

The North Idaho College Theatre Department presents “Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread,” by David Ives, and “SYM” by Gerard Mathes at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 18-20, and Oct. 25-27, in NIC’s Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center on NIC’s main campus.

Ives’ “Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” is a fun parody of the minimalist composer’s style and theatrical efforts that begins the evening, followed by “SYM,” written by North Idaho College music instructor Gerard Mathes and directed by Crystal Bain. “SYM” is short for symphony, but this symphony incorporates abstract movement and speech as it examines science, art, philosophy, and the big bang. No infants, please.
