KAVANAUGH: One bright light

| October 12, 2018 1:00 AM

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford credibly answered questions about her sexual assault at the age of 15, and she did so, as she put it, “terrified” to be testifying there in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee — being televised and all. But she felt it was her “civic duty.”

Sad to say, but civic duty and genuine patriotism (as I saw it to be) doesn’t cut it with Senate Republicans these days, apparently. Following a sham of an FBI investigation, they rebuffed Dr. Ford and, with a party line vote, put themselves on display as hypocrites and cowards.

Seen as cave dwellers — all in the dark — one Republican senator, just one, lit a candle. Lisa Murkowski voted no on Kavanaugh’s nomination. Her statement: “I have been wrestling to really try to know what is fair and what is right, and the truth is that none of this has been fair.”

Thank you, Senator Murkowski.
