GRATEFUL: Bad day averted

| October 12, 2018 1:00 AM

I would like to express my gratitude to two local businesses and every one of their excellent employees, as well as GEICO Insurance, who all went beyond ordinary customer service to help me.

On Sept. 24, I took my car to Hippo Car Wash on Bosanko Avenue in Coeur d’Alene, and while wiping down the inside surfaces, I accidentally locked myself out, leaving my keys in the ignition with the engine running, as well as my purse with my phone, insurance, credit cards, etc., inside.

I returned to the office and explained my dilemma to the attendants. The young man asked for the name of my insurance company, and called their representative who took all my information, assured me there would be no charge, and contacted Sunset Taxi & Towing, who arrived within an hour, as promised, as soon as a driver was available.

While waiting, another attendant asked if he could get me a bottle of water and kept checking the status of the response with the office and reporting back to me. The Sunset driver quickly unlocked my car and assured me that “It happens all the time,” hopefully never again to me! Perhaps my letter will prevent it happening to others as well.

I then proceeded through the car wash and left them a well-earned tip! Kudos to three great companies and their excellent employees!
