IML champ Timberlake rolls

KELLOGG — Ashlyn Mallet and Brooke Jessen had seven kills each as the Timberlake Tigers swept the Kellogg Wildcats 25-17, 25-17, 25-16 in Intermountain League play Tuesday night at Andrews Gymnasium.

Kylie Marneris had 23 digs, McKeeley Tonkin 19 assists for Timberlake, which won or shared the IML title for the fourth straight year. The Tigers shared the league title with Bonners Ferry last season, and won it outright in 2016 and ’15.

Timberlake plays host to Bonners Ferry on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.

Post Falls

LEWISTON — Tessa Sarff had a big night, finishing with 14 kills, 14 digs and four aces, but the Trojans fell to the Bengals 25-18, 19-25, 25-23, 25-23 in a 5A Inland Empire League match at Booth Hall.

“Tessa played really well, and we passed really well and served the ball really well as a team,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “But we just couldn’t put the ball away when we needed to. We just couldn’t finish out those close sets, especially in the third and fourth set.”

With the loss, Post Falls (14-13, 1-5 5A IEL) will open the 5A Region 1 tournament at Lake City on Saturday. Coeur d’Alene will host Lewiston in the other opening round match. Both matches start at 1 p.m. Lewiston (1-5) won the tiebreaker over Post Falls as the Trojans beat Lewiston in five sets on Sept. 13.

Courtney Finney had 22 assists, Rylee Hartwig four blocks, Ali Carpenter 15 digs and three aces and Kayla Mayo four aces for Post Falls.

Lakeland

SANDPOINT — Daphne Carroll had 20 kills, Katy Ryan 12 kills and three blocks for the Hawks in a 25-16, 25-17, 24-26, 25-18 loss to the Bulldogs in a 4A Inland Empire League match at Les Rogers Court.

“They kept fighting, never gave up, fought for every point and pushed through,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “We have sophomores, they have seniors.”

Jenny Wirtz had seven blocks, Abigail Neff 30 assists and Madison Van Gelder five aces for Lakeland (19-11, 2-2 4A IEL), which travels to Lake City on Thursday.

Grace Hicks had 17 kills, 10 digs and three aces and Jazmin Stockton 15 kills and 10 digs for Sandpoint (17-9, 3-0), which visits Moscow on Thursday.

Genesis Prep

CLARK FORK — The Jaguars fell to the Wampus Cats (14-9, 8-0 North Star League) 25-7, 25-9, 25-6.

Genesis Prep hosts Coeur d’Alene Charter on Friday at Post Falls Middle School.

HARRISON FLATS — Glory Olson and Kamryn Hendrickx had eight kills and one block each, leading the Knights past the Warriors in a North Star League match.

Tenley Lambert had five aces and Alyssa SiJohn 18 assists for Lakeside (6-6, 5-4 NSL), which hosts Wallace in its Breast Cancer Awareness match on Thursday.

“We got quite a few good passes and Kootenai had some trouble handling our serve,” Lakeside coach Brad Veile said. “The rest of the night wasn’t quite up to our standard, but we served quite well.”

Kootenai (2-10, 1-7) travels to Clark Fork on Thursday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Megan MacKinney had 12 kills and nine aces for the Panthers in a 25-9, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17 win over the Royals at Holy Family Catholic School.

Mackenzie Simkins had 17 assists and Rylee Peterson nine aces for Coeur d’Alene Charter (8-7), which travels to Priest River on Thursday.

Kaylee Prosch had 15 assists, Celeste Lund 16 digs and Layla Nordham seven kills and three blocks for North Idaho Christian (8-7), which travels to The Oaks of Spokane Valley on Friday.
