GRIZZLY: Rest of the story

| October 10, 2018 1:00 AM

Reading the Oct. 4 article regarding the killing of a grizzly bear, my interest was piqued by the last paragraph regarding a hunting guide killed by a grizzly on Sept. 14. I did not recall seeing anything in the paper regarding the incident. So, hello Google. Holy Cow! Why weren’t the details of that incident published here?

We have numerous bow hunters including my friends, Ron and Troy, who should know the details as described by the survivor and the Wyoming F&G. To those interested in them go to Google and read the article from the Jackson, Wyo., paper.

The bottom line in my opinion was the guide removed his Glock and placed it several yards away while he worked on his Florida clients’ successful kill. Not far away was a sow with a 1-year-old cub. She charged and attacked the guide. The client grabbed the Glock and couldn’t make it work. Most likely an empty chamber. He was attacked briefly before the sow turned again on the guide. The client managed to scrabble up to the top of the ridge where the horses were tied, rode to a higher location to get phone service and called for help. Read the rest of the story online.

A very sad ending and the bear spray used later did not end the attack.
