Linda Marie Sabatke

Linda Marie Sabatke (nee Smith) stepped into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior on Oct. 6, 2018. Linda was born in Portland, Ore., on Jan. 9, 1945; the eldest daughter of Clarence and Cleo Smith. She was raised in Coon Rapids, Minn., and graduated from Anoka High School in 1963 and from the University of Minnesota in 1967, where she studied elementary education. She married Charles Arthur Sabatke on Feb. 22, 1967, and they had two children, Christopher Charles and Derek Stephen Sabatke.

Minnesotans at heart, the family also lived in Arlington, Va.; Brisbane, Australia; Bonn, Germany; and Geneva, Ill., eventually retiring to Rathdrum, Idaho.

Linda has always been very active in her church as a Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader. She loved gardening, researching the family’s genealogy, sewing and quilting, reading and visiting with friends and family. She loved traveling and had the opportunity to visit many parts of the world.

She was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Cleo Smith; grandparents, Alfred and Nettie Smith and John and Carrie Arends; and sister, Joanne Trenda. She is survived by her husband, Chuck Sabatke; children, Chris (Jennifer) Sabatke and Derek (Meghan) Sabatke; grandchildren, Soren, Avery, Thayer and Charlie; sisters, Beverly (William) Payne and Anita (Allan) Standish; as well as a large extended family.

There will be a memorial service held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Lake City Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
