A 45-year-old Coeur d'Alene man who was shot multiple times at a Post Falls apartment complex Thursday night was in stable condition at Kootenai Health on Monday.

Chris Daniel Gunderson improved over the weekend from being in serious condition on Friday.

Keven Carl Custer, 27, Athol, remained in the Kootenai County Jail on Monday on $100,000 bond on a felony aggravated battery charge.

Custer told police that he shot Gunderson at St. Vincent de Paul's Ross Point East Apartments, 3843 E. Second Ave., out of fear after a physical altercation broke out before the shooting.

A neighbor told police he heard about six shots in the apartment above him.
