Burton W. Evans

Burton W. Evans of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, formerly of Streator, Ill., died at home peacefully on Oct. 5, 2018. He was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Wauwatosa, Wis., to Lorn Evans and Margaret (Davidson) Evans. He married Joyce A. Lyons on June 6, 1953, in Streator.

He is survived by his wife Joyce; daughters, Julie (Edward) Adamchak of Post Falls, Idaho, and Diane (Martin) Johnston of Atoka, Tenn.; grandchildren, Daniel (Karen Skowera) Biros, Lorn Biros, Joseph (Stephanie) Adamchak, Burton (Patricia) Evans, Laura (Grant) Erwin and John Biros; step-grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Howard, Tara (Richard) Hector, Monica (Blake) Hanks and Russell Johnston; four great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Evans of Coatsville, Pa.

Burton began farming in the Streator area in 1952. He later worked for The Super Dairy and then was part owner and operator of The Red Carpet Car Wash. He owned and operated Autoshine Car Detailing and Evans Furniture Restoration. He and his wife moved from Streator to Post Falls, Idaho, in 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin; and a daughter, Jane Ann.

Burton was a skilled craftsman and furniture restorer. He loved to travel and taught his children to explore this wonderful country and to love nature the way he did. He enjoyed history and was an avid flower gardener and bird watcher. His true passion was farming and absorbing the beauty and serenity of the Midwest. Above all else, he loved his family and spending time with them.

His family would like to express their appreciation for the love and care provided to him by the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living, in Coeur d’Alene and Hospice of North Idaho.

A funeral will be held on Oct. 27, 2018, in Streator.
