Former volleyball standout

Allen to speak to NIC Boosters

COEUR d’ALENE — Allen Allen, a former member of the USA men’s volleyball team, will be the guest speaker at the NIC Booster Club Luncheon at noon Tuesday at the Outback Steakhouse.

Allen was a three-time All American volleyball player at the University of Hawaii from 1986-89 before being selected to the USA men’s national team from 1989-92. After his experience with the national team, Allen became a professional beach volleyball player from 1992-98. Allen turned to coaching at the end of his playing career and was the head coach at Alliant University in San Diego from 2001-03. He also served as an assistant coach for Gonzaga University’s women’s volleyball team from 2009-14. He is currently the assistant director for the Cats Junior Volleyball Club in Spokane.

The public is welcome to attend the luncheon.

COEUR d’ALENE — At Tuesday night’s home volleyball match vs. Coeur d’Alene, the Lake City High volleyball program plans to honor the former varsity players and varsity head coaches since the school opened in 1994.

The Timberwolves are asking former players to RSVP with their name, graduation year and their head coach’s name to thepattons@roadrunner.com

The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
