Frank Joseph Favor

Frank Joseph Favor passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018. He was born to Clement Joseph Favor and Alvina (Engberg) on Aug. 2, 1929, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Wash.

Frank graduated from Metaline Falls High School in 1947, from the University of Idaho in Forestry and also with a 2nd Lt. commission from the ROTC program in 1951. Ten days later, on June 16, 1951, he married Donna (Sands) Favor in the Congregational Church in Metaline Falls, Wash.

Frank served in the Korean War and earned a rank of 1st Lt. before his return to the United States. He worked most of his life for Diamond Match/Diamond International Woods Products Co., beginning with summer employment with Diamond while going to college. He worked as logging superintendent at Albeni Falls, Idaho, and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. His last position with them was as timber and lands manager for Albeni Falls/Coeur d’Alene and Superior Montana Forestry Department. He was involved with a number of timber organizations throughout his career, which included section manager with the Intermountain Logging Conference, where he also served as president.

He loved the outdoors — hunting, fishing, golfing and camping. He played all sports while going to school in Metaline Falls and was a big fan of the Idaho Vandals.

Frank was much loved by family and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Frank Jr. (Christine) of Kent, Wash.; daughter, Bonnie Favor of Kent and Andy (Shelly) Favor of Meridian, Idaho; granddaughters, Denise Favor, Katje Fiala and Sadie Favor; grandsons, Justin and Jason Ruhl; six great-grandchildren; nephews, Michael and Douglas Favor; and niece, Penny (Favor) Wylie; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Walt Beam and nephew, Brent Beam. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Favor; brother-in-law, Guy Sands; and nephew, Leon Beam.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crest Home Health Care and Hospice of Coeur d’Alene, with whom we so appreciate their constant vigilance in the care of Frank, and also the football program at the University of Idaho in Moscow.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Please view and sign Frank’s online guest book at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
