BROOKS: Not what we need

| October 5, 2018 1:00 AM

This is an open letter to candidate for Kootenai County Commissioner Bill Brooks in response to your comments published in the Sept. 30 Press, concerning taxpayers who disagree with you on opt-out of permits.

My father was a public servant and is an Alaska State Fallen Firefighter. My husband was a public servant with the federal government for 43 years. Neither one of them would have EVER spoken to taxpayers the way you did. I will not be voting for you in November and will write in a candidate if given that option. The second reason I will never vote for you is you kept your public column with all the name recognition that provided. I would have resigned had I been running for office.

God bless the patriots of Bonner County. You are in my prayers. Looking forward to visiting. God bless the patriots who had the “nerve” to think that in America, they could speak out about an ordinance without insults being leveled at them.

This is not communist Cuba, North Korea or Iran. We have the freedom to live where we choose and First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution. It is in communist countries where citizens are censored and belittled for political thought. Last time I looked, Post Falls is still part of America, as is Kootenai County.
