Lake City aces Post Falls test

COEUR d’ALENE — Janae Rayborn had nine aces, Nellie Reece three aces for Lake City in a 25-15, 25-13, 25-16 win over the visiting Post Falls Trojans in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Tuesday.

Lake City (22-1, 5-0 5A IEL) finished the night with 14 aces combined and a serving percentage of 93 percent.

Klaire Mitchell had 17 assists, 10 digs and five kills, Ashley Kaufman seven kills, Rayborn five kills, Tanai Jenkins five blocks and Reilley Chapman eight digs for Lake City, which travels to Sandpoint on Thursday.

“We served the best we had all year,” Lake City coach Mike Summers said. “Reilley did a great job in the back row leading our defense and transitioning into the tempo offense, which they struggled to keep up with.”

Kayla Mayo had eight assists and seven digs, Tessa Sarff seven kills, Courtney Finney seven assists and Megan Wood three aces and two blocks for Post Falls (13-12, 1-4 5A IEL), which hosts Lewis and Clark tonight at The Arena.

“Lake City served the ball really well tonight,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “They were painting the lines with their serves, and we had trouble with that tonight. We played aggressive, but it was hard to maintain an attack against those guys tonight.”

Coeur d’Alene

COEUR d’ALENE — Lauren Phillips had 12 kills, 20 assists and eight digs for the Vikings in a 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-13, 17-15 nonleague loss to the Bulldogs (15-7) at Coeur d’Alene High.

“It was a battle of who could get the momentum tonight,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “We had our moments and did some good things, but couldn’t get points in a row. That made those first few sets tight, and unfortunately we lost that fifth set by two.”

Kelly Horning had 18 kills and five blocks, Taylin Rowley 10 kills, 23 assists and eight digs, Marina Erickson 12 digs and Liliana Hare five blocks for Coeur d’Alene (14-7), which hosts Lewiston in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Thursday.

RATHDRUM — Summer Powell, the Hawks’ lone senior, had seven aces and 11 digs as Lakeland swept the Bears 25-12, 25-17, 25-19 in 4A Inland Empire League play on senior night at Hawk Gym.

Abbey Neff had 21 assists, Daphne Carroll 22 kills and five aces for Lakeland (18-11, 2-1 4A IEL). Katy Ryan added 16 kills and three aces, Jenny Wirtz seven blocks, Olivia Cooper 27 digs, Sarah Pope three blocks.

“Our girls played well tonight and served hard,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “Daphne had an awesome night hitting and digging some tough hits. Olivia and Summer played awesome defense. It was a great senior night for our one and only senior, Summer Powell.”

Moscow dipped to 7-11, 0-3.

Lakeland hosts Timberlake and Post Falls in a tri-match Thursday.

SPIRIT LAKE — The host Tigers clinched at least a tie for the Intermountain League title, defeating the Spartans 25-17, 25-27, 25-18, 25-9.

McKeeley Tonkin had 20 assists, 12 digs, three kills and four aces for Timberlake (19-8, 6-0 IML). Kylie Marneris had 14 digs, Ashlyn Mallet seven kills, Brooke Jessen four kills and three blocks.

Natalie Randolph had 10 kills and two aces for Priest River (3-2 IML). Harlee Meek had 19 assists, Maggee Pankoke 30 digs and two aces, Dalanee Cook two blocks.

Next up for Timberlake is a tri-match with Lakeland and Post Falls in Rathdrum.

KELLOGG — Megan MacKinney had eight kills and seven digs for the Panthers in a 25-21, 25-20, 25-10 loss to the Wildcats in an Intermountain League match at Andrews Gymnasium.

Rylee Peterson had three kills and three digs and Hannah Burt had seven digs for Coeur d’Alene Charter (6-7, 0-6 IML), which hosts Bonners Ferry on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic School.

COEUR d’ALENE — Layla Nordham had seven kills, five aces and eight digs to lead the Royals past the Lions 25-8, 25-14, 25-9 in Mountain Christian League play at Holy Family Catholic School.

Kaylee Prosch added 21 assists and five aces, and Julia Haag had nine kills for North Idaho Christian (7-5, 3-3 MCL), which travels to Pullman Christian on Thursday.
