Candidates, questionnaires are now due

| October 3, 2018 1:00 AM

Political candidates are apparently more like newspaper reporters than they’d like to admit: Filing early isn’t an option.

All joking aside, today is the deadline for local candidates seeking elected office in Kootenai County government or the Idaho Legislature to return questionnaires they should have received from The Press last month. As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, only seven candidates had submitted their filled out questionnaires.

Information from the questionnaires will be used in an Election 2018 Voters Guide that will be published by the newspaper on Oct. 20. The guide will reach the vast majority of Kootenai County residents likely to vote in the Nov. 6 election.

Candidates, if you didn’t receive the questionnaire or, like a reporter, maybe misplaced it, please contact City Editor Maureen Dolan: mdolan@cdapress.com

Voters, remember that The Press is sponsoring a public forum for all Kootenai County-based candidates for the Idaho Legislature on Oct. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Coeur d’Alene Library Community Room. The forum will be moderated by Managing Editor Mike Patrick, with questions coming from reporters Brian Walker and Judd Wilson. Candidates will also give opening and closing remarks.

CdA-TV will tape and rebroadcast the forum at least nine times between Oct. 24 and Nov. 6.
