BAT: Deserves much better

| October 3, 2018 1:00 AM

On page A7 of Saturday’s Press is a headline: Halloween’s coming, time for bats.

There’s a color picture of a wadded up, suffering, furry gray creature.

Caption: JoAnn and Steve Lokken submitted this picture of a bat tangled up and hanging from a fly trap. A first for them. See if you can find the bat legs, ears, etc. Have fun!

“Have fun.”?

This seems to mock the agony and fear of an innocent animal.

The bat was just making a living, trying to eat disease-spreading flies and millions of human-killing mosquitoes.

The bat is a mammal … it suckles its young. It is smart and social, living in colonies.

Halloween, huh? The season for cruelty to cats and bats?

All I care about and ask is: Did the Lokkens hurry and cut this terrified animal free?
