Jeffrey S. Veenhuis, 64

Jeffrey “Jeff” S. Veenhuis, 64, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away at the Schneidmiller Hospice House on Sept. 26, 2018, with his wife, Cynthia by his side. Jeff was born on Nov. 7, 1954, in Slayton, Minn. to Roger Veenhuis and Delores Hansen. He later moved to California where he met Christine Arnold, and together they had three children, Amanda, Nicolas and Justin.

He then moved to northern Idaho where he made a life as a construction superintendent with Garrco Construction for 25 years, creating many of the new places called home all around the Spokane, Wash., area. He was a wonderful provider for his family as well as others. Jeff enjoyed working hard, golfing, traveling and being around his friends, Tyler, Bo and Jerry.

“Jeffy” and Cynthia Olson were married on Oct. 5, 2017, and since 2006 they lived in Coeur d’Alene. Jeffrey was a 10-year throat cancer survivor, then went into remission. Together Cindy and Jeff bought a motorhome to embark on new adventures. He loved driving to California, Oregon, Idaho, Washington and Nevada.

Jeff leaves behind his wife, Cynthia A. Veenhuis; his three children, Amanda, Justin and Nicolas, and their mom, Christine; and two brothers, Don Veenhuis and Todd Veenhuis.

A visitation for Jeff will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83815.
