VETERAN: Asks NIC a question
Thank you for your coverage and salute to us veterans in the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday editions. As an Army veteran during the Vietnam War and as an active Army Reservist for many years, I appreciate all of the sentiment.
I noticed Monday that banks and public schools are closed. There is one glaring exception: NORTH IDAHO COLLEGE. I find it strange that an institution of higher learning which rakes in thousands of FEDGOV dollars in GI Bill money could not at least set aside this national holiday out of consideration for the many military veterans who are students there.
If there is a scheduling issue, surely TPTB could shorten winter vacation by a day, or whatever. I will await their response to this letter. I am sure it will be smarmy, condescending, and self-serving.
