Tony Strasser, 79

Tony passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Ivy Court, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Tony was born June 29, 1938, in Northampton, Pa., and grew up on a farm that he often talked about. After graduating high school he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Arizona, where he met Patti and married her in November 1961. Although newlyweds, Tony finished his service term overseas in Okinawa, Japan.

Shortly afterward, Tony and Patti moved to Southern California in 1963, where they began their family, started a heavy equipment mechanic business, Mobile Diesel Service, and formed lifelong friendships. They enjoyed lots of neighborhood get-togethers where he was the life of the party.

Wanting a simpler life, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1979, re-established Mobile Diesel Service, fulfilled his dream of building his own home and added many more lifelong friends. No matter where we went he would run into somebody he knew. Tony was known for his storytelling and playful grin. His hobbies included motorcycle riding, stream fishing, bowling, playing cards and raising horses and fowl, peacocks being his favorite.

Through all his medical problems he didn’t let it dim his spirit or love of life. Tony is survived by Patti, his wife of 56 years; his children, Mike Strasser, Dave Strasser and Debbie Stephens; his grandchildren, Summer Lee-Muir, Mariah Stephens, Hannah Stephens and Anton Strasser; and his great-grandchild, Connor Muir.
