Mary Anne Compton, 91

Mrs. Mary Anne Compton, 91, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away on May 17, 2018. Mary Anne was born in 1926, in Pelly, Texas, to Alice L. (Jones) and Steve M. Lowe.

Mary Anne was raised the daughter of an oil field worker, living in both Texas and Louisiana, along with her three sisters and two brothers.

She met Clinton ‘Dean’ Compton, a Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, while working for the Casualty Branch of the War Department during WWII, and they were married July 21, 1944.

They lived the Navy life for the remainder of the war and again during the Korean War. They lived in Texas and Idaho, eventually settling in Coeur d’Alene in 1956.

Mary Anne worked alongside Dean at Kaiser Aluminum-Trentwood Works for 30 years. While working, she graduated cum laude, from Lewis-Clark State College. After retiring, she and Dean traveled extensively in their motorhome in the U.S. and also traveled abroad. She loved painting, as well as directing and acting in the community theater.

Mary Anne and Dean had three children, Janice (Bert) Hale, Clint Jr. (Christy) and Mark (Deborah). She enjoyed her two granddaughters, Rae Deane and Ami Lee; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Mary Anne will always be remembered for her and Dean’s 71 years of deep and lasting love for each other, her professional successes and her zest for life.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
