HUNGER: A local feast

| May 20, 2018 1:00 AM

Saturday, May 12 was the 26th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive facilitated by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Last year, Letter Carriers collected more than 75 million pounds of food nationally, feeding an estimated 64 million people. Over the course of its 25-year history, the drive has collected 1.6 billion pounds of food, thanks to a postal service delivery network that spans the entire nation.

This year the Coeur d’Alene Postal Service Letter Carriers collected more than 15,000 pounds of food to benefit families in Kootenai County.

I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the local postal service employees, the community for donating and our volunteers for their hard work processing and presenting the food to those in need. The 15,000 pounds of food along with the daily help given to us by local businesses will allow us to continue to help Stamp out Hunger in our community.

Thank you all for your very special part in the fight against hunger in our community!
