Robert Roy Mallory, 75

Robert Roy Mallory, age 75, from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 14, 2018, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Bob was born Dec. 3, 1942, in Richmond, Calif. to Robert Clinton and Ruby Inez Mallory. Bob began his career at age 17 as an iron worker of Local 378, Oakland, Calif. He married Betty Ann Clements and shared his love of horses, fishing and cars with his children, Bobby, Renee and Annette. In 1970, Bob moved with the family to Hayden Lake, Idaho, and once again shared his love of fishing, with numerous outings to Farragut State Park.

He shared his life in Coeur d’Alene with his wife of almost 40 years, Osa Lorraine Mallory. They built a good life together, raising Osa’s two sons, Steve and Rick. Hayden Bible Fellowship was their church home. Bob was a fun person and was known for his quick wit and clever one-liners. He was hard working and always dependable. He worked on the Grand Coulee Dam and the Hanford Site. Unfortunately due to the nature of ironwork, Osa and Bob spent much time apart. Every time Bob left to go out of town, he would write on the garage wall, “I love my Osa,” with the date. In 1990, when Bob became ill, the separations ceased and they moved to Washington to enable Osa to continue her employment. They returned to Coeur d’Alene in 2000.

As Bob’s illness progressed, and with determination to keep him at home, it became necessary to have in-home care. His nurses and CNAs loved him and delighted sharing in laughs. Even in his feeble voice, his wise cracks would bring about sudden laughter. Many sweet and cherished memories were created.

Bob is survived by his wife, Osa Mallory; his children, Robert Clinton (Allison) Mallory, Renee Mallory-Weist, Anna Mallory and Steven (Sheree). He was preceded in death by Rick Morris. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, Wade and Evan Mallory, Josh Weist, Jennifer (Rob) Seigrist, Bobby Brown, Mary and Maggie Cantrell; as well as great-grandchildren, Hunter, Madelyn and Samantha Seigrist. He is survived by his siblings, Beverly Lindstrom and David (Judy) Mallory. Preceding Bob in death are his brother, Don and his parents, Robert and Ruby.

We would like to wish a special thank you to “Remain at Home,” the company who came to our rescue and provided such special people to care for Bob.
