VA: Billing alert

| May 18, 2018 1:00 AM

On May 11, I received a bill from the VA Administration for $398, saying that payment was due by May 29 or there would be penalties. The disturbing part of the bill is that it was for seven services dating back to June 22, 2017. Had the VA billed me on a current basis, there would not be any issue, but the delayed billing makes it extremely difficult to come up with almost $400 in 18 days, just because the VA can’t maintain their charges on a current basis.

I called the VA and attempted to have them allow me to pay the balance off on a monthly basis. They said they could do that, but there would be an interest charge on the unpaid balance. I really think that is deplorable charging interest on an account that the VA allowed to be delayed by 10 months.

I want to warn all my brother veterans that you can expect the same type of treatment with your future billings, and that the VA has no compassion regarding their billing policies.
