'Light it Up!'

COEUR d’ALENE — The North Idaho Pride Alliance will be lighting up the dance floor Saturday for the third annual QProm.

An alternative to more traditional proms, QProm welcomes people of all ages, genders and sexualities to enjoy a dance party in a space that is free of drugs, alcohol, weapons and drama.

This year's theme is "Light it Up!"

"QProm gives people in the LGBTQ community a chance to attend a dance they may otherwise feel uncomfortable going to," said NIPA team leader Caleb Weeks. "They have the opportunity to completely be themselves in a safe, supportive and fun environment."

The evening will also include limbo and games, entertainment, food, prizes, a photo booth and a raffle.

"It gives people the chance to mingle with old friends, make new acquaintances and be a part of a supportive community," Weeks said.

NIPA is an organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning and allied people and community groups working together to create a unified North Idaho.

QProm will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. at Lake City Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive in Coeur d'Alene. Admission is $15 for students and $20 for non-students. Food and beverages will be included.
