Nina M. Hagen, 85

Nina Marie Hagen was born Dec. 19, 1932, to Esther and Thomas Lanning, in Big Sandy, Mont. She passed into the loving arms of our Lord on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Garden Plaza Assisted Living in Post Falls, Idaho.

Nina married the love of her life, Myron “Sandy” Hagen, on Oct. 31, 1959, in Eugene, Ore. They had one daughter, Renee Hagen (Larson).

Nina grew up mainly in Big Sandy and Helena, Mont., graduating from Helena High School in 1950. Nina attended Carroll College in Helena, graduating with a degree in nursing. Nina later attended the University of Washington, in Seattle, Wash., earning her master’s degree in nursing.

Nina worked as a registered nurse in Seattle and surrounding areas for more than 40 years. After receiving her master’s degree, she worked for the State of Washington — Aging and Adult Services, as a quality assurance nurse for 17 years, until her retirement in 1995. Nina devoted her life to her family and friends, as well as her chosen career in nursing and helping others. She was a wonderful and loving wife and mother and will be truly missed.

Nina was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Thomas Lanning; sister, Katherine Gall; and brothers, Thomas Lanning and Ike Lanning.

Nina is survived by her husband of 58 years, Sandy of Post Falls, Idaho; daughter, Renee and her husband, Clayton and step-son, Bryan of Anchorage, Alaska; sister, Marion Routzhan of Helena; along with many nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Garden Plaza Assisted Living, who took the best care of Nina. Her family is grateful.

Viewing will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Bell Tower Funeral Home, 3398 E. Jenalan Ave., Post Falls, ID, 83854. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Bell Tower. A reception and celebration of life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Garden Plaza Independent Living Facility, 545 N. Garden Plaza Court, Post Falls, ID 83854.
