ADLER: The people decide

| May 16, 2018 1:00 AM

I was appalled (yet not surprised) at the liberal Coeur d’Alene Press’ deliberate omission of real front-page news on Friday morning. On Thursday morning, the release of three Americans from the communist gulags of North Korea was secured by our great president and country. Instead, the Coeur d’Alene Press splatters its front page with the opinion (not labeled as such) of alt-left, extreme liberal, Trump bashing, rhetoric, of David Adler. Even the fake news networks, CNN, MSNBC, NBC and ABC took a break from the Trump persecution 24-hour news cycle to cover the event.

Mr. Adler, with all the flowery titles The Press lavishes on him, is not the end all authority on freedom of the press, the people are. And the people have shouted at the top of their lungs regarding fake news biasness against the sitting president of the U.S. (see recent approval polls). Because the news media has been called out for its false reporting by the current president, it does not restrict their freedom to report trashy, nauseating biasness, as Adler implies. The president is not attacking free speech as Adler suggests, he is calling them out to responsible journalism as the Coeur d’Alene Press should be called out for as well. If the free press is the guardian of our freedoms by keeping in check on those in power, who is keeping the press in check of its unbridled power?

Of course my article will be buried in the opinions pages. We the readers (and writers) of the opinions pages are meant to be corralled and contained (seen not heard) while the Hagadone Empire inundates us with its liberal, alt-left propaganda on its front pages.
