Gayle P. Sims-Deitz

Gayle P. Sims-Deitz was born Oct. 22, 1942, to Marie and Myron Humphrey, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018, surrounded by her family at the Schneidmiller Hospice House of North Idaho.

Gayle has two younger sisters, Diana Wilks and Janice Odenthal. She graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1960; she always valued the special friendships that she had maintained since she was a child.

Gayle married Larry Sims on March 30, 1963. They had two daughters, Leah McClain and Brenda Sims. Together Gayle and Larry owned and operated Sims Towing for many years.

Gayle married David Deitz on July 14, 2004.

She started working in the healthcare field at 16 years old at Lake City General Hospital, and she retired from Kootenai Medical Center in 2005. After retiring, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Gayle was predeceased by her mother, Marie and father, Myron.

She leaves behind her husband, David; sisters, Diana Wiks, Janice (Brian) Odenthal; daughters, Leah (Wes) McClain and Brenda Sims; grandchildren, Dustin (Stephanie) Franks, Jeremy Franks, Cody Lang, Lindsey (Casey) Dragon, Ryan Deitz and Taylor Deitz; stepson, David (Kristi) Deitz; Shannon (Randy) Cumbaa; great-grandchildren Tristan Franks, Rylee Dragon, Tyler Franks, Jerzey Franks, Griffyn Dragon and Troy Franks; many nieces and nephews; and best friends, Betty Gaye Hartz, Joana Koss, Patty Turner and many more.

A special thanks to Jane and Megan and the entire staff at Hospice of North Idaho.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at The Coeur d’Alene Eagles, 209 E. Sherman Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Gayle may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave. Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
