Lake City's DuCoeur, Cd'A's Whittemore win in singles

COEUR d’ALENE — Jack DuCoeur defeated Chris Vargas 6-2, 6-2 in an all-Lake City final in boys singles at the 5A Region 1 tournament Saturday at Coeur d’Alene High.
Madi Whittemore of Coeur d’Alene won the girls singles title.
Bracken Curtis and Adam Priebe of Coeur d’Alene won in boys doubles, and Madison Morris and Nick Brown of Lake City won in mixed doubles.
Lewiston won the overall team title. Lake City and Lewiston tied for the boys team title, and Lewiston captured the girls team title.
The top three finishers in each division advance to state, Friday and Saturday in Boise.
