Jerry Curtis Carr

Jerry Curtis Carr was welcomed into the world on New Year’s Eve in Columbia, Miss. The firstborn child of Maryland and Elvira Carr, he would later become a big brother to Brenda Carr Ingram, David Carr and Debi Carr Ward. In 1959, Jerry married the love of his life, Connie Klinefelter, and the two embarked on a 59 year journey that bore two sons, Daniel and Douglas; five grandchildren, Rachel, Brian, Kevin, Luke and Hannah; and six great-grandchildren, Michael Jerry, Hunter, Ryan, Emery, Jaelyn and Coen Jerry.

Jerry enjoyed a long and successful career of building homes and commercial properties in the Central Coast of California. Later in his career, he would travel throughout the state, overseeing installation sites for new cell phone towers. In 2012, he retired to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, an area he would lovingly describe as “God’s Country.” He would continue to consult and occasionally travel for work through 2016.

A true outdoorsman, Jerry loved fishing, hunting and shooting. In his youth, you could find him waterskiing on the Colorado River with his family on the weekends. He loved catching catfish from Santa Margarita Lake in California and trout from Kelso Lake in northern Idaho.

Above all, Jerry was a committed family man who was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. Known as “Opa” to his family, Jerry’s jubilant laugh, welcoming personality, and kind and generous spirit also extended to his neighbors, whom he talked with daily.

With his family and friends by his side, Jerry Carr left this world and entered Heaven on April 18, 2018. He is forever loved and never forgotten, and we miss him dearly.

On June 9 family and friends will gather in northern Idaho to celebrate Jerry’s life. For service information, please contact jerry.carr.memorial@gmail.com.
