SIMS: Remember this

| May 11, 2018 1:00 AM

It seems Kathy Sims has resolved her residency issues for now. Unresolved are the issues of why we voted her out as state legislator.

These include her voting record, as well as her wrong minded positions on critical local issues. We voters may not all be “elephants,” but we do not forget.

REMEMBER Sims’s behavior with the Coeur d’Alene Police over a minor issue? No one appreciates a “Don’t you know who I am” attitude.

REMEMBER her opposition to the Kroc Center, the new library, as well as McEuen Park improvements? Remember her part in the unsuccessful Recall attempt of Mayor Bloem and council persons Kennedy and Goodlander?

REMEMBER her opposition vote regarding a Community Mental Health center in Coeur d’Alene? No thanks to her, we now all benefit from these successful and frequently used facilities. Sims went against the will of “We The People” on all of these issues.

Kootenai County, as well as Idaho, can and will do better. As we educate ourselves on the candidates, we need to also REMEMBER; Idaho ranks No. 50 in early childhood education. It is but one of 10 states refusing to fund it. Idaho ranks No. 48 in education. Idaho ranks No. 50 (dead last) in wages. Education is an obvious correlation.

Kathy Sims’ party line votes did nothing to better this. Why do voters continue to send the same legislators back time and again to perpetuate this shameful status quo? It may be time to look at the “R” behind the name and consider it might also represent “remember and replace.”
