ABORTION: Here's an option

I read Republican Bob Nonini’s statement that “women who get abortions should be subject to the death penalty.” He slightly backed away from that statement with “a threat of prosecution.” After I read that, I had a vision of the cartoon cave man dragging a woman, by the hair, into his cave. The male’s right to ownership of the female. Subsequently, I read that Republican Tommy Ahlquist, a “pro-life” candidate, also stated his support of punishing the female. As I understand this male logic, in a few minutes of pleasure, a man can impregnate a female and walk away free of all responsibility, but the woman should suffer punishment.

Personally, I believe that a person who will never be able to be pregnant should have no control or say over the body of the one who can. I remember when “if you love me, you’ll do it” was the call of the horny male. The result often meant a naïve, uneducated, young female with a baby, no means of support and a sad future for both.

As a solution what if: 1) Female is forced to give birth to the child, then provided with lifetime contraception. 2) Male is located, using DNA if necessary. 3) Male gets to support his child through college. 4) Male doesn’t cooperate, send him to jail. 5) State gets to support the child until age 21. 6 ) Young female wises up, gets an education and a good job. Yeah, no abortions.
