Turkeys & More planning next talent showcase

| May 9, 2018 1:00 AM

They give tons of turkeys to those in need around the holidays, and the folks at Turkeys & More show off local talent to help pay for it.

The nonprofit announced a new volunteer director for its now annual Showcase of Talent. Mike Bullard will direct this year’s benefit concert scheduled for Sept. 29 at the Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene.

Last year’s Showcase of Talent raised several thousand dollars to help pay for the turkeys and holiday food distributed by the Community Action Partnership (CAP) Food Bank for Thanksgiving.

Bullard will be seeking performers for this year’s show. Anyone interested in performing should contact bullard at mabullard@gmail.com and provide a brief bio.

Bullard, a retired minister, has been involved in various musical events in the area, including Opera CDA. He has also been very involved in on the scene volunteer assistance for national disasters and wrote a book about local celebrity author and North Idaho native Louise Shadduck.

Turkeys & More coordinator Evalyn Adams said the group is now seeking donors and sponsors so they can collect funds in time to get a good deal on turkeys. Prices go up as the holidays approach.

The goal this year is to raise $36,000 to provide 1,700 vulnerable families a turkey and all the trimmings.

Contributions can be mailed to CAP Food Bank Manager Darrell Rickard at 4144 W Industrial Loop, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
