Lisa Marie Baray, 43

Lisa Marie Baray, 43, former resident of St. Maries, Idaho, passed away at her home in Post Falls, Idaho, on May 6, 2018. She was born to Ken and Gwen Edwards on July 18, 1974 in St. Maries. Lisa grew up in St. Maries, where she participated in cheerleading, 4-H and Kristi’s Dance Academy. She graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1992.

Following high school, she moved to Moscow, Idaho, where she attended Leon’s Beauty School, graduating in 1994. She went to work for Mastercuts in the Silver Lake Mall and several other salons. In 1997, Lisa moved to San Diego, Calif., where she continued her work in the beautician industry. She married Blu Baray on Feb. 29, 2000, in San Diego.

In 2002, Lisa and Blu moved to Hawaii where daughter, Jocelyn was born. She worked as a cashier at Walmart in Kona, Hawaii. The family moved to Post Falls in 2010, where she went to work as a hair stylist at the Locker Room. In 2011 health issues with MS left her disabled, so she retired.

Lisa enjoyed hanging out at the beach when she lived in Hawaii, and she enjoyed surfing with her daughter. She loved listening to music. Lisa was a certified scuba diver, but never put it to practice. She was a member of Hausi Posses, which is an MS support group. On April 21 of this year, Lisa participated in the MS Awareness Walk in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Lisa is survived by Blu and her daughter, Jocelyn Baray of Post Falls; her mother, Gwen Edwards (Dale Wight) and grandmother, Leona McCarter, both of St. Maries. Also surviving are her brother, Daniel (Kate) Edwards of Sedro Woolley, Wash., and a foreign exchange student who lived with Lisa as a sister, Tanja Waldeck of Hamburg, Germany. Lisa is also survived by niece and nephew, Jordan and Will Edwards of Sedro Woolley. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Edwards, in 2010.

A scholarship fund has been set up for Lisa’s daughter, Jocelyn, in her memory through Premier Financial, 1117 Main St., St. Maries, ID 83861. A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Community Presbyterian Church in St. Maries, with Pastors Janet Potter and Greg Worch officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the fellowship hall of the church. Lisa’s final resting place will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with her father.
