Wallace ‘Brian’ Nelson, 75

Wallace “Brian” Nelson, 75, passed away at Kootenai Health to his heavenly home on April 24, 2018.

Brian was born in Ballard, Wash., and spent most of his childhood in Alaska. After two years of college, he served six years in the Coast Guard. He worked a total of 23 years in Alaska as a food broker for his dad and on the Alaska Pipeline. After working in Seattle for 10 years, he moved to Spokane, Wash., and later had his own cookie distributor business with Voortman Cookies for 15 years until he retired in 2004.

He loved his dog (Zoe), horses, watching horse races, golf and college basketball — especially the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He enjoyed grilling and landscaping around his home with plants and flowers.

He is survived by his wife of almost 27 years, Dee Nelson; mother Gloria Nelson of Kirkland, Wash.; brother Brooke Nelson and nephew Blake Nelson of Seattle, Wash.; son Brent (Diana) Nelson of Bossier City, La.; grandsons Rory Nelson and Cameron Nelson; great-granddaughter Shelby Nelson; stepson Darren Weeks of Spokane; stepson Darrel (June) Weeks; and grandchildren Gareth, Hannah, Christopher and Bethany of Mountain Home, Ark. He is preceded in death by his father, Wally Nelson.

If so desired, memorials in his name may be given to Gideon’s International.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
