Thomas J. Kamps, 63

Thomas ‘Tom’ J. Kamps Sr., a lifelong Inland Empire resident, passed away March 26, 2018, at the age of 63 from natural causes. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, J. Donald and Lorraine Maye Kamps of Post Falls. Tom was born in Post Falls on March 28, 1955, attending kindergarten through high school there. He also attended North Idaho College before moving to Spokane.

He enjoyed tinkering with electronics, buying and selling through flea markets, reading and composing poetry along with enjoying science fiction. He enjoyed music, particularly Beatles songs.

Tom was a kind-hearted man who enjoyed sharing with others and always counted people over money. Tom had trouble being close to people most of his life, but had the good fortune of developing a wonderful circle of friends the last few years of his time here. His family’s thanks go out to Deputy Eric Epperson of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department.

He is survived by his son, Thomas (TJ) Kamps Jr.; sister Donna Wilson of Spokane; brother Joseph (Julie) Kamps Jr. of Post Falls; nieces Jennifer Kumjian and Jessica Pedersen of Spokane, Jillian (Matt) Ott, and Janessa Kamps and Julianna Kamps of Coeur d’Alene; and nephews Joseph (Lenna) Kamps, III, Jackson Kamps of Post Falls and Bryce (Kacie) McKeirnan of Spokane. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Millwood Masonic Center, 3219 N. Argonne, Millwood, Wash.
