Men unhurt after boat sinks

Two men escaped without injuries Wednesday evening after their boat sank on Fernan Lake.

James W. Johnson, 63, of Hayden and Michael S. Beauchamp, 33, of Coeur d’Alene were in a 10-foot aluminum Jon boat with an electric motor that took on water around 7:45 p.m. and sank approximately 30 feet from shore near the West Fernan boat launch, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

Both men made it to shore and called for help, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Coeur d’Alene Fire and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue, as well as Kootenai County deputies responded to the scene.

The men were uninjured and refused medical treatment.
