GUNS: The real problem

| March 30, 2018 1:00 AM

Even though I’m an NRA member, I understand why bump stocks, high capacity clips and automatic weapons should be banned.

Unfortunately, these steps are 60 years too late. These items are out there, in private hands by the tens of thousands.

Mental health background checks? The Columbine school shooters didn’t buy guns; they got them from Daddy’s gun cabinet.

The Sandy Hook school shooter didn’t buy his weapons; his mother bought them for him.

Let us not forget that the Parkland, Fla., school shooting could have been prevented, or at least the death toll could have been less:

1. The school district tried to get the shooter held for a mental health evaluation. It didn’t happen.

2. The FBI received several leads about the shooter, but didn’t follow up on them.

3. The deputy, on campus to protect the students, was a coward.

No, we don’t need fewer guns, we need more guns in the hands of teachers, administrators, etc.

Remember the Aurora, Colo., shooter? He said he picked that particular theater because it had a sign which announced that it was a gun-free zone. He also said that his target of choice was the Denver Airport, but it was too heavily guarded.

Weak-kneed liberals are the problem.
