Egg-citing news for the weekend

Easter is this Sunday, and plenty of egg hunts and festive happenings are coming up in Kootenai County.

Friday, March 30

3:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Garden Plaza, 545 N. Garden Plaza Court, Post Falls — Traditional family Easter egg hunt. All ages welcome. Bring your own basket. Petting zoo, cookie decorating, face painting and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Free. Info: 208-773-3701.

Saturday, March 31

10 to 10:30 a.m. — McEuen Park, 420 E. Front Ave., Coeur d'Alene — The egg hunt starts at 10 a.m. Open to children from birth to fifth grade, including an area for children with special needs. Get candy and prizes in a safe, family-friendly environment. Enter for a chance to win a Silverwood Gold Pass. Organized by Real Life Ministries-Coeur d'Alene campus and Heart of the City Church. Free.

11 a.m. — Majestic Park, 5400 W. Majestic Ave., Rathdrum — Community Easter egg hunt with special guest, the Easter Bunny! Age groups are: 3 and younger, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Lots of prizes for each age group. The Rathdrum Police and Northern Lakes Fire Department will hand out stickers and prizes. No registration required. 1 p.m. — Q’emiln Park, 12201 W. Parkway Drive, Post Falls — This family-friendly event will include an Easter egg hunt with four age divisions: Toddlers, 3-4, 5-7 and 8-11. Will take place rain or shine. Children are encouraged to bring their own baskets/bags. Free.

8 p.m. — Community United Methodist Church, 1470 W. Hanley Ave., Coeur d'Alene — Flashlight Easter egg hunt. Kids of all ages are welcome to come hunt Easter eggs in the dark! Bring a basket, a flashlight and a friend. Lots of fun and goodies for all. Free. Info: 208-765-8800 or www.cdaumc.org.

Sunday, April 1

10:30 a.m. — Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St., Coeur d'Alene — Easter morning egg hunt, rain or shine. All babies and children through fifth grade are invited to join in the fun of finding hidden eggs. Free. Info: 208-664-5743.

1 p.m. — Coeur d'Alene City Park and Fort Sherman Playground, Coeur d'Alene — Egg hunt for children 12 and younger. Thousands of Easter eggs will be scattered throughout the park and playground. Special eggs will hold tickets for prizes. The hunt will happen rain, snow or shine. Organized by the North Idaho Osprey Men's Rugby Club.

1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. — Sherman Square Park, 316 Sherman Ave., Coeur d'Alene — Shenanigans Sweets and Treats Sixth annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Obstacle course, prizes, candy and caramel corn, a visit from the Easter Bunny and more! Egg hunts split into age groups — ages 0-4, 1 to 1:15 p.m.; ages 5-8, 2 to 2:15; ages 9-12, 3 to 3:15 p.m. Info: 208-644-0955.
