Curtan, Schaller fuel Cards' sweep

PASCO, Wash. — Kayla Korok hit a leaoff home run in the fourth inning and Kayla Curtan followed with a two-run shot later in the inning for North Idaho College in a 15-4 win over the Columbia Basin Hawks in the first game of a Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday.

Curtan scored three runs and drove in four in the opener for NIC, which held Columbia Basin to four hits in the first game.

Mckenzie Schaller had three RBIs and three runs scored in the first game for NIC.

In the nightcap, Kennedy Anderson hit two-run doubles in the fourth and seventh inning as the Cardinals beat the Hawks 16-8 to get the sweep.

Schaller and Curtan had four hits each in the second game, with Curtan driving in four runs.

NIC (15-1, 6-0 NWAC) travels to Wenatchee Valley today for a doubleheader starting at noon. Columbia Basin is 4-10, 0-2.
