Laurel Mae Johnsen ‘Lori,’ 68

Laurel Mae Johnsen “Lori,” 68, was born on April 14, 1949, in Spirit Lake, Idaho, to Clifford and Clara Mae Howell. She grew up in the Rathdrum area with her four brothers, Myron, Terry, Alan and Keith.

Laurel was married twice, her first marriage resulted in two children, Brenda and Chris. Laurel’s second marriage gave her Jeannette and T.J. Over the years Laurel loved many others as her own, and even called them hers.

Laurel lived in several different areas, but ultimately returned to Rathdrum with her beloved, Gary Sessions. They spent 32 years together before he passed.

Laurel enjoyed writing poems and short stories. She even had some published. Laurel loved to travel and enjoyed camp-outs with family and friends.

Laurel is survived by her brothers; numerous nephews and one niece; her children and their spouses, Brenda (Dave) Bierce, Chris (Hillary) Toland, Jeannette (Jason) Johnsen and T.J. (Tanya) Johnsen.

Laurel’s life revolved around her children, but her grandchildren were her greatest treasures: Axston, Stephen, Jacob, Hayden, Ella and Zachary.

There will be a celebration of Laurel’s life this spring, and then she will join Gary in Montana.
