Kelly Robert Mason

1956 - 2018

Kelly Robert Mason was born July 3, 1956, in Bakersfield, Calif. He graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1974. He married his wife, Cindy Mason, in 1982, and in 1991 they moved their family to make a home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. From 2012 to present, Kelly and Cindy decided to live in an RV full time and travel between Coeur d’Alene and Bakersfield, to be near their children. He died March 16, 2018, in Bakersfield from complications due to pneumonia. He was 61.

He sold cars while living in Coeur d’Alene, and returned each year to sell RVs for Barry’s RV in Bakersfield.

Kelly loved and cherished his wife and the adventures they went on together, especially traveling and enjoying the beauty of the country and spending time with their kids and grandbabies. They loved going together on bicycle rides, long motorcycle rides, and fishing. He enjoyed taco trucks, Basque food and a good cold beer. He loved rebuilding his ’55 Ford F-100, purchased as a teen, and he finally got to drive it in 2016.

Kelly is predeceased by his mom, Donalda Mason and dad, Hugh Mason; sister, Leslie Marcell, and brother, Jason George.

He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Cindy Mason; daughter Alison, and family Brian, Oliver and Alexander Stone of San Clemente, Calif.; son Andrew Mason, and wife Monica of Boise, Idaho; and son Patrick, and family Laura, Calvin and Evelyn Mason of Bakersfield. He also leaves behind a brother, Michael Mason, with wife Kim; sister, Toni Woodrall, with husband David; parents-in-law, Don and Pat Barrier; brother-in-law Tim Barrier, with wife Della; sister-in-law Beth, with husband Larry; and several nieces and nephews.

He left everyone with an imprint of his love and humor. The hole he will leave in our lives is as deep as it is painful. But we are blessed to have had a man in our lives that loved us so deeply and would do anything for his family and friends. No words will ever begin to describe how much we will miss him. Our pain is only comforted by knowing that he now rests in the presence and peace of his Lord.

There will be a service to celebrate his life at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at New Life Church Southwest, in the Spanish Auditorium, 4201 Stine Road. Bakersfield, CA 93313. There will be a reception afterward at a different location. Because he had two homes, there will be another time in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, soon for everyone to join the family in another celebration. Flowers can be sent to Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Highway, Shafter, CA 93263. There is also a Go Fund Me account: gofundme.com/kelly-mason-memorial-fund Please send condolences to the family and sign Kelly’s guest book at www.PetersFuneralHomes.com.
