Verdella F. Schaefer, 79

Verdella F. Schaefer, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on March 15, 2018, at Hospice of North Idaho at the age of 79 years. Verdella was born in Mandan, N.D., and moved to Spokane, Wash., with her family at the age of six. She graduated from Central Valley High School in 1956. In 1957, she met the love of her life, Robert C. Schaefer, and they married in August of 1958 and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where they started their family of two daughters, Jennice and Vickie. The family moved to Post Falls, Idaho in 1968.

Verdella loved crafting blankets, aprons and quilts, and giving them to all of her loved ones. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, especially baking, spreading her love with each good she shared. Verdella and her husband also were avid card players with their friends.

Later in life, Verdella’s activities included spending copious amounts of time with her four grandchildren, and then her great-grandchildren. She was passionate about her Gonzaga Basketball Team.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years, Robert “Bob” Schaefer; her twin sister, Ardella Qualle; her brothers, Dick (Sandy) Miller and Dennis (Carol) Miller; her children, Jennice (David) Cordova of Meridian, Idaho, and Vickie (Steve) Shaffer of Post Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, Jamie (Matthew) Dilley of North Pole, Idaho, Kacey (Jason) Cordova of Meridian, Idaho, Alex (Jocelyn) Cordova of Meridian Idaho, and Britney (Kendall) Shaffe-Silverstrini of Post Falls, Idaho; and beloved great-grandchildren, Max, Mia, Logan, Benjamin and Madelyn.

She was preceded in death by parents, Emmanuel and Rose Miller, and brothers Marlo Miller and Lyle Miller.

At her request, no funeral services will be held. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho, Mannie and Gladys Schneidmiller House, in her memory.

Bell Tower Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
