Winona Alice Montgomery

Winona Alice Montgomery passed away March 17, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was a resident of Garden Plaza retirement community in Post Falls for the past 11 years.

Winona was born May 27, 1928, to the late Lee and Nina (Smith) McClaugherty of the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, where she lived most of her adult life. She was a resident of Lafayette, La., before moving to Post Falls, Idaho.

Winona is survived by her two sons, Rogers D. Cavasar of Brenham, Texas, and Mac. E. Cavasar Jr. and wife, Sheila, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who called her “Grammy” and “Aunt Noni” by her many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her brother, Ray McClaugherty and his wife, Chevela, of Hargill, Texas; a sister, Jo Nell Pyle of Plano, Texas, and sister-in-law, Lois McClaugherty of Harlingen, Texas. She was preceded in death by brothers Lowell, Curtis and Rogers McClaugherty.

Winona was a member of the Dalton Garden Church of Christ. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed her Ladies Bible Club and the Rambling Rovers Travel Club.

Burial will be at Highland Memorial, Weslaco, Texas, at a later date.
