ROUNDABOUTS: Etiquette 101

| March 16, 2018 1:00 AM

Many of us by now have had a great deal of experience with traffic circles and how they work. However, there are still a few citizens who are not familiar with how traffic circles work. Let’s visit that, shall we?

So, when you approach any of the numerous traffic circles there are several signs there. The two most important are “yield” and “speed limit.”

For example, the two new traffic circles on Seltice, being that they are two-lane circles, means if someone is making a turn up to Atlas or a turn south towards the river, both lanes have to stop while the car(s) are in the circle.

If you are in the circle you do not stop in the circle nor do you have to yield to those outside of the circle. They have to stop for you and wait outside the circle. Stopping in a circle can cause an accident with those behind you.

Do not rush to beat the car to your entry point of the traffic circle. If there is a car in the circle you need to yield to them.

I know these are basic rules and I know some of you aren’t sure, but if you follow these basic steps it will help you and the flow of traffic.

Drive safe!
