CARLSON: Ease up on Sali

| March 14, 2018 1:00 AM

In Chris Carlson’s column, The Carlson Chronicle, I get the feeling he is still trying to oust Bill Sali who served in Congress 12 years ago. Mr. Carlson refers to Congressman Sali as an obscure little known Legislator who was a disaster as a congressman. Mr. Carlson said that Bill Sali played up his adherence to Christian values and his 100 percent pro-life voting record. It is my understanding that those values are a plus in Idaho.

Mr. Carlson tries to make Congressman Sali look like a loser who was defeated in his bid for re-election by Democrat Walt Minnick. Mr. Carlson chose to ignore and forget the fact that Bill Sali served (I think it was 12 years in the Legislature) before being elected to Congress. He did not only claim to be a Conservative, he served as a true Conservative. He had the backbone to stand strong on the principles given to us in the Constitution by our Founding Fathers.

Mr. Carlson, did you forget that Bill Sali lost his re-election bid because a group of weak-kneed influential Republicans formed a committee of Republicans to elect Walt Minnick? Mr. Carlson, you did not only attack the integrity of Congressman Sali, you questioned the integrity of thousands of true Conservatives in his Legislative District who voted for his re-election numerous times and also those in the First Congressional District who elected him to Congress.
