GUNS: Retirees can defend kids

| March 4, 2018 12:00 AM

I enjoyed reading Jan Conner’s letter in last Sunday’s Coeur d’Alene Press. I believe as she does, that many of those men and women who choose a life of service, generally do want to continue to serve in some capacity.

I am sure that some veterans who have heard the horrific details of our school shootings have thought, “why did this happen to me?” I agree. Supply those retired veterans and police officers with the proper equipment to feel confident in defending our kids.

Pay them enough compensation that shows respect and gratitude for their help. Give our kids security while being educated and the retirees a sense of purpose again. Everybody wins.
