Matt's Place Foundation pub crawl March 10

| March 3, 2018 12:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Matt’s Place Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping those with ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases, is hosting its third annual pub crawl on Saturday, March 10, starting at 3 p.m.

This year, 13 downtown Coeur d’Alene pubs are participating in this fun event to raise money for patients and their families who are battling ALS. The establishments participating are The Beacon, Collective Kitchen/The Filling Station, Coeur d’Alene Eagles, Crickets, DogHouse, Fine Brewed, the Iron Horse, the Moose Lounge, the Rocker Room, Seasons, Sweet Lou’s, Taphouse Unchained and the 2nd Street Cantina. This year the event will begin and end at The Resort Plaza Shops.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance at MattsPlaceFoundaton.com or on the day of the event at the Plaza Shops. To qualify for prizes, event participants must get their cards stamped at all 13 locations. It is not necessary to drink at all or any of the locations.

Organizers say, it’s just a fun way to visit downtown businesses and bring our community together for a great cause.

Colby Acuff and the Saddle Tramps will be providing music at the Plaza Shops along with raffles, pizza and an opportunity to meet the organization’s founder, Matt Wild.

Wild is a former U.S. Marine and Coeur d’Alene native who was diagnosed with ALS in February 2015.

While the financial impact of this disease for Wild was greatly lessened by the medical benefits provided by the VA, he was alarmed to realize the terrible financial toll that it can have on people living with the disease and their families.

The proceeds from this evening do not go to Wild. The money raised will help other families in the community dealing with ALS.
