Spokane teens accused of downtown robbery spree

| June 29, 2018 1:00 AM

A Spokane 18-year-old and two younger teens are accused of stealing a wallet and a purse during a robbery spree Wednesday in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

Cameron T. Pearson, 18, and two male juveniles — a 16-year-old from Spokane Valley and a 17-year-old from Spokane — are all facing multiple criminal charges following the incident that began at the Taphouse Unchained in the 200 block of east Sherman Avenue.

A Coeur d’Alene police officer responded at 7:25 p.m. to a report that three young males had stolen a wallet and attempted to steal another at the taphouse.

The suspects reportedly fled the area before officers arrived, but within minutes, officers were dispatched to another call at the parking structure at McEuen Park where a male and female victim had been assaulted and the female’s purse was stolen. The suspects, believed to be connected to the first incident at the taphouse, left the downtown area in a green passenger car.

Witnesses provided a photo of the license plate and a description of the suspect vehicle.

Officers stopped the suspect car on Interstate 90 as it was traveling toward Washington. The five occupants in the vehicle — Pearson, the two juvenile males and two female juveniles — were detained and evidence was allegedly found inside the car. Victims from both incidents identified Pearson and the two male teens as the primary suspects. All five teens were arrested on suspicion of various crimes related to the robberies.

Pearson was booked into Kootenai County Jail.

The Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney on Thursday amended the charges for Pearson and the two male teens, who will be charged as adults. All three are facing charges of two counts of criminal conspiracy to commit robbery; two counts of robbery; grand theft of a financial instrument; and attempted robbery.
