Karla Jean Giovanelli (Secaur), 75

Although her previous three generations of family were natives of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, due to depression, job opportunities and her father serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, Karla Jean Secaur was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Dunsmuir, Calif. (Siskiyou County), to Frank Warren Secaur and Neoma Jane Whiteley, joining siblings Clyde and Sharon. She died June 25, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene.

In 1961 she graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and flirted with the enticing careers of pearl-diving and waitressing at noted establishments like Fred and Wilma’s and the Spudnut, in addition to selling Tupperware. Forsaking this fame and fortune, she found her true forte in marriage and motherhood. In 1966, she married John Adrian Giovanelli in Coeur d’Alene, and embarked on creating fine and loving homes at many U.S. Naval bases in Hawaii and California.

Karla is survived by children, Thomas Giovanelli and Teresa Giovanelli; grandchildren, Gina (Kyle) McManus and Andrew Bushfield; her sister, Sharon Ryen and best friend, Marian Perry McKay. She was preceded in death by husband, John Adrian Giovanelli; son, Jack Russell Giovanelli; parents, Frank Warren Secaur and Neoma Jane Whiteley and brother, Clyde Secaur.

Karla enjoyed defeating one-armed bandits and crocheting. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

At her insistence there will be no funeral, however, you can leave reminiscences and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.

As a final display of her wit she would suggest in lieu of flowers, please send Chinese food. LOL.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
