BAND: Forget them nots

| June 27, 2018 1:00 AM

We thank all people in Coeur d’Alene and surrounding areas who have cheered and sung along with our Perfection-Nots Band in the Fourth of July Parade for the last 40 years. We started it in 1977 for one year and 41 years later we are regretfully retiring as organizers.

Special thanks to those marching with us through the years, some almost every year. John Terris, bass drum man. Ray Fischer, our plunger-carrying drum major for decades. Tom Torgerson pulled bass drum wagon from the time he was 13. Denny Burt is our first row right guide forever. Many original band members have passed on and we remember them all fondly.

Good friends helped us go out to the schools, load drums and sousaphones into pickups, and carry each one carefully down our basement stairs, back up for rehearsal, down after the parade, and up again to return to schools. We could not have done it without them; John Terris, Roger Hudson, Geoff Howard and so many others.

As we retire our desire and expectations are that this band will continue for another 100 years with the same entertainment quality and pure fun that has been our trademark. The committee of five or six longtime band members who have taken over is doing a superb job of bringing all the many tasks necessary into this century with computers and smart phones. Thank you Denny, Geoff, Eric, Stan and Dennis.

Thank you for years of enthusiastic support. It has been a real joy.
