William ‘Bill’ Ritchey Hogue, 67

William “Bill” Ritchey Hogue died at home on June 19, 2018, in Palm Desert, Calif., at the age of 67.

Bill is survived by his mother, Bettilu Hogue of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; wife, Luzviminda Acero Hogue of Palm Desert; children, Thomas Hogue of Spokane Wash., Ashley Doss of Virginia Beach, Va., Veronica Hogue of Palm Desert, and Jane Hanger of Brea, Calif.; grandchildren, Harrison Hogue and Adelynn Hogue; brother, Russell Hogue of Yuba City, Calif.; sisters, Patti Wilkinson of Garfield, Wash. and Janice Ritzer of Tumtum, Wash. Bill was preceded in death by his father, James Hogue, mother, Barbara Quenell and brother, James Hogue.

Bill was born on Sept. 17, 1950, in Stockton, Calif., to James Hogue and Barbara Quenell. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Stockton and later ITT Tech with a degree in computer science and drafting design. Whether laying track for the railroad or using his mechanical engineering skills troubleshooting the redesign of multimillion dollar aircraft for Boeing and Lockheed, Bill saw to the safety of others.

He married Luzviminda Acero in 2004. His children remember him as a loving, dedicated father who fostered respect and integrity that will endure for generations. Bill placed a high priority on education and supported his children in achieving their educational goals.

Bill was accomplished at many sports. Whether outdoors hunting or fishing, playing baseball, or running the table at Nine-ball or Eight-ball. Bill was a good sport and those who were lucky enough to play with, or against him, enjoyed his spirit. Bill was a loyal Washington State Cougar fan. Go Cougs!

Bill was a true Hogue with more than a hint of the wanderlust that Hogues often exhibit. Whether on the road to a concert or traveling the backroads of the mountains, Bill was right at home. Bill made friends easily and was at home wherever he was. He was never at a loss for words and you’d not find many, if any, who heard a cross word from him or about him.

A viewing and visitation is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’ Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
