Bryce James Nixon, 25

Our beloved Bryce passed from this life to eternal life on June 17, 2018. He fought an extremely valiant fight against leukemia that began a year ago when he was at Army basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.

He endured 6 weeks of basic all while fighting a litany of blood clots and, as it turns out, cancer. Yet he still woke up early for PT every day and never had an excuse on his lips. We, his loving family, were there from the start of this terrible fight to the moment he took his last breath. Cancer may have ravaged his sweet body, but it never took his kindness, compassion or sense of humor away. He exhibited those qualities a million times over throughout this nightmare ordeal. He will be truly missed by every person who was lucky enough to know him. Our hearts are broken but we will take comfort in the fact that we will see him again, and that he is always with us.

Bryce was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and was the epitome of a strong outdoorsman. He spent his early years hunting, fishing, hiking and really anything that got him in the country he loved most with his family. Always on the go, Bryce filled his high school years triple lettering in football, wrestling, and track, and being the embodiment of school and community involvement. If there was a Lake City event, you could bet that you would see Bryce’s beautiful face or hear his amazing laugh surrounded by a group of people.

In his adult years, he worked non-stop, played even harder, and always set new goals for himself; he was never satisfied by sitting still or staying the same. He loved to try all the local crafted beer and play as many local frisbee golf courses as he could with his wife, family and friends but he could make an adventure out of even the most mundane situations.

This world was a much brighter place while Bryce was here, but we will all live the rest of our lives in a way that honors and embodies Bryce’s spirit and legacy. His alluring personality and unconditional love will always be a lesson to us all on how to live life right.

Bryce is survived by his loving wife, Sarah “Darlin” Nixon; Donna “Mama Bear” Nixon and stepdad, John; dad, Kerry Nixon; Nicole “Sister Bear” Nixon and husband, Robbie; grandparents, Bob and Gwen; plus many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, a family of in-laws and dear friends. Bryce was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Marilyn Nixon.

Bryce’s memorial service will held at noon on Saturday, July 14, at Real Life Ministries, 1860 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls, Idaho.

English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, has been entrusted with his care and services. Please sign Bryce’s guest registry and view his online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
